Spotlight on Women’s History Month: Birmingham Futsal Celebrates Female Players
Sommer is one of the most committed players the BHM FUTSAL fam. Her poise under pressure and technical proficiency make Sommer a special player. Sommer has an intense passion for improving and working toward her goals. She is a joy to coach – we are excited to follow her journey in the game. We are blessed to have Sommer on the courts with the BHM FUTSAL FAM.

I absolutely love futsal because it’s fast-paced and requires a lot of quick thinking and decision making. My favorite part of the game is definitely the teamwork aspect – I love working with my teammates to set up plays and score goals. My best memory so far was earlier this year in Charlotte, when we were down 1-5 and managed to come back to 5-6. We almost tied the game, and it drew a lot of spectators who were cheering us on, creating a very lively atmosphere.
Playing futsal has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I dream of one day being selected to represent Team USA on the national stage. I know that it will take a lot of hard work and dedication, but I’m willing to put in the effort to make it happen!
Sydnie’s commitment to improvement and positive attitude make her a special player in the courts. These traits and her maximum coachability make Sydnie an integral member of the BHM FUTSAL family.
Here is what she has to say about the game:
I love futsal because it’s so dynamic and unpredictable – you never know what’s going to happen in the next second! My favorite part of the game is when I’m able to dribble past defenders and make a great pass to set up a scoring opportunity. It’s such a rush to see my teammates finish off a play that I helped create.
Every minute and second on the training and competition ground is my best memory. I am very grateful to Birmingham Futsal for giving me such an opportunity. We even had the chance to learn and communicate with university coaches, professional athletes, and even national team coaches. It has become an integral part of my life and has become my way of life.
I have a deep passion for futsal and I hope to one day represent Team USA at the highest level. I know that it’s a long shot, but I’m willing to work hard every day to improve my skills and make my dream a reality.
